JAN AUGUSTINE JOSEF

THE WRITER BEHIND THE THOUGHTS.

Hello! My name is Jan Augustine Josef and I am a freshman attending the University of California Irvine as a Business Economics major. Born in West Covina, California, I have many aspirations of utilizing business economics as a foundation to a career within financial advising or anything within the business realm. My passion for giving back and making a difference in society is evident through the many organizations at UCI I am part of, such as ASUCI's Anteaters in Action and High School Outreach.

Being a humanities core student presents in itself many opportunities to be exposed to foreign, challenging and thought-provoking concepts that may inevitably parallel my own personal life. This years humanities core theme, Empire and Its Ruins, challenges me to study past experiences of important figures through literature, art, history, and interpret how their experiences came to shape our understanding of empires influence within our dynamic society.

One of the main aspects of my blog INTRSTNG that you will find is my admiration for the beauty found within minimalism and aesthetics. Did you know that aesthetics is a concentration of humanities focusing on literature, art, dance and more? Neither did I! As far as blog posts go, connecting events from the past and finding a relevant connection to todays current world events is what I hope to present to you, my reader. Visually, admirers of aestheticism may find INTRSTNG simplistic and unique in its own way. Rhetorically, I invite every reader to analyze my thoughts, critique, consider other perspectives not mentioned and help me grow as a student looking to improve as a writer.
